At baptism we immerse the person into the reality of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. They become a new creation, an adopted child of God, co-heirs with Jesus. They can call God their Father.
It is a time of deep commitment by the parents. At the beginning of the service they are asked if they want their child baptised. They say Yes, and the Minister then says "You have asked to have your child baptised. In doing so you are accepting the responsibility of training her in the practice of the faith. It will be your duty to bring him/her up to keep God’s commandments as Christ taught us, by loving God and our neighbour. Do you clearly understand what you are undertaking?" The faith of the parents is the very foundation of the baptism.
To have your child baptised our church you must be part of our parish family, and have talked with our Parish Priest about your intention. There will be a time of preparation where needed.
